POLL TO PICK YOUR FAVOURITE STYLE FOR MSA 2!!!: http://fatelogic.deviantart.com/journal/poll/4174689/

Well... here's a major "game changer" for the project, so I want to listen to what you, the viewers and future players of the MSA's sequel have to say.

As you know (at least those of you who have already played the first MSA), the original MSA was designed on a rather simple plot to work as a mixture of a short visual novel and, in the middle, a hentai game of flash animations. Truth be told, that last part (the "hentai game") is going very well and advancing at a good rate, but the other "half" of the "original design" (that is, the "story part" of the game, with Lance's antics and his bickering back and forth with the gals of the residence) is really FAR from being finished (in fact, I've got little aside from 3 character models, a couple half done backgrounds (which...  you know I'm not good at), and bits and pieces of the argument).

What I mean by this is that the game's developement speed and lenght changes drastically when you consider the "story" section either IN or OUT the actual project. Taking the story section off would dramatically accelerate MSA's production (a lot), but the game would lose it's narrative and situational context. Keeping the story section as to remain similar in style to the original MSA (a story bit before and after the hentai section) in exchange would feel more continuous with MSA's 1 style, but it will put a great burden on the developement, thus affecting it's speed, size and release date by a great deal...

So here's my question to you, guys and gals, who are ultimatelly the ones that have been asking for a MSA sequel since the release of the original:

Would you preffer a quicker, more direct "load and go to the hentai" scenes without all the context, dialogue and so on that the first MSA had, and thus get the game as a direct "hentai game" with no storyline or argument much quicker to it's release date?

Or would you preffer to keep the "narrative" style of the first MSA intact, with all the dialogue, story, non-h scenes and situational vibe of the original, as to make it play more like a Visual Novel (as the first MSA was), but taking into account that it will take a lot more time to make?

Or long story short: A straight to the point, quicker to release, cut to the chase "hentai game" without context. Or a narrated pseudo "Visual Novel", longer to release, more slow paced game with the "hentai section" in the middle (as the first MSA was).

I hope I'm getting my point across. I'll leave a poll open for you to vote, and please feel free to express your opinions on this matter here in the comments if you want.

Live or die... make your choice.

Had to say that...

Wheeeew... well... Time for the good news, I guess:

MSA 2's core game is... what, 95% made? Give or take, but yeah, pretty much. (not taking fine tuning into account, but that's just... a day's work... one and a half at the most).

So yeah, the animations run smoothly, the commands seem to work without a problem, and the music and sound is... getting better, actually (yeah, you never realize how big of a difference sound makes in a hentai game until you actually add it to the file... go figure...)

This means that... TESTERS, stay in touch, cause this coming week we're going to break some code down, badass style! And if you manage to ram the shit out of this core product and it doesn't bugs out or something, that means the most heavy and difficult (and important, let's be honest) part of the project will be 100% done... which would mean epicness and sexyness in a neat package could be nearing in these few months (no specifics on that yet, but I can begin to imagine what the release date could be... more or less... not telling yet though, bear with me).

I'm gone to rip the internet appart for more dirty sounds (the things I do for you, guys and gals... gotta give me credit...)

Well... With all the festivities, my naturalborn lazyness, "Warframe" playing sessions, "If My Hearth Had Wings" and "Yumina the Ethereal" sessions (need my VN fix... as always)... MSA 2 was chilling in the background for a couple weeks.

However, I'm slowly coming back to work with it, and I've made some progress on it, so lemme illuminate you on these last updates:

1) The first scene was already tested, and aside from one particular bug that was already taken care of, all the testers gave a very positive feedback.

2) All the scenes are already made (although the testers have just seen the first of the three), and now I'm working on adding sounds and features into them (I'm wracking my brain to find fitting moaning sounds though... that's holding me back greatly... go figure). Once all the interface details have been refined, I'll send it to the testers to check it out and, hopefuly, I'll be able to say "the main core of the game is good and ready to go".

3) If point "2" becomes a reality (which doesn't seem to be very difficult aside from those fucking sound effects), all I'll have to do left would be to finish writting the "story" part of the game (in a more VNesque style than the first MSA), draw the backgrounds and those things that require less effort than the ACTUAL game, so... yeah, we're closer.

4) The donation marathon will begin when I confirm that the core game is ready. Just to push your buttons, I'll publish an animation loop of the third scene... yeah, this one:4129841_138879712931_msa_2___third_scene_sketch_by_fatelogic-d6u6ehr.jpg

Can you imagine that... animated?

Yeah, I bet it'll make for a wonderful donation incentive ;)

Anyways, stay on touch, since I feel things will get messy from now on!

Testers, stay in touch. I'll be contacting you in the following days... Let's do this SHIT!!!

Oh my God... I hate making backgrounds... I just suck at it AND can't get motivation from anywhere to do them...

Seriously, I mean... For someone who knew what they're doing and enjoyed it, this would have taken... 2 or 3 days at most...

Me, on the other hand... I'M WORKING ON THE SAME FIRST BACKGROUND FOR MORE THAN A WEEK... and I swear I'm advancing at a snails pace... and MSA's 2 developement speed is inevitably dependant on me doing the BGs sooner or later, so...

I

HATE

DOING

BACKGROUNDS.

Yeah... that's the name I'm going with. Shut up.

Anyways, just a quick update on how the game is going and what you people shall be expecting next regarding this hot topic:

Progress:

First of all... the first and third hentai scenes are 99% done (and by this I mean there are just little tweaks I gotta do on them before calling them "complete") and the interface for both of those scenes is pretty much finished as well (you know, buttons, sliders, progress bars... all that good stuff). These last ones are more or less 75% done, since I've still got to implement some aditional functions (volume control, SFX control, etc.), but still, navigation is working ALMOST flawlesly (I'm having an already solved bug in "Scene 3", and by this I mean I solved it in "Scene 1", but repeated itself in the third one... so I sort of have an idea bout what's the problem).

I haven't touched the second scene yet, which would be the only one left to animate, but I expect it to be easier than the first one which was... quite honestly, pretty darn hard to pull off. Aside from that, everything else is still on the conceptual stage (aka: I'm thinking about it, getting ideas and so on). Writting, aditional character sprites aside from the three I've already shown here (RD, Flutters and Jackie), backgrounds, sound effects, possible voice acting (not confirmed), etc. However, I'm assuming all that will be waaaay easier to do once the core of the game is finished, which is what I'm currently working on.

What's next:

Well, calling the alpha testers will be the next thing to do once this last scene gets done, so I'll hear their feedback and, once the core of the game is fine tuned and such, I'll open the donation pool. Just for a reminder, our goal will be the USD 2.5k (2500), and those who contribute beyond the USD25 will have their name (or alias, it's up to you) at the credits roll call under the "Supporters" title, so you can brag with thy fellow perverts about how you became a crucial part of MSA2 developement XD (you egomaniac). Well, that's pretty much it for the time being... I'm gonna go back to the developing table xD So much work to do yet.

Well, I've been working on the three main H-scenes for MSA 2 (which are the actual "meat" of the game, if you know what I mean), and the time to open up the donation pool is crawling nearer and nearer. The three scenes are almost finished in the "illustration" department, so after a day or two more of work, I'll be able to move into their actual "animation" process. If these scenes actually prove to be finely animated (since the way my animations work make it difficult to tell until you actually TRY to animate them, piece by piece) I'll proceed to open the donation pool and give you people the details on our target and the little bonuses you'd be able to get if your donation reaches certain numbers (they're mostly credits and a downloadable version with an added application to play fullscreen, but it's still on "prototype" status, so no need to spill the beans bout it yet).

What I mean by this is... you'll get more info about the project and the donation pool as soon as I finish checking the wide details and prove to myself that there'll be no problem in getting MSA 2 done :D

MSA 2! Funding Poll and Possibilities:

Posted by Fatelogic - October 27th, 2013

Well, I figured I could use a break from all these long term projects (and I could use a buck too), so yeah, I formally announce that one selective commission slot is open!

What does this means/How does this works?
--------------------------------------------------------

If you're interested in asking for a commission, you can send me a note with all the details of the piece you want me to illustrate. Keep in mind my prices, of course (they're all listed below my DeviantArt ID, so check 'em out: http://fatelogic.deviantart.com/ ).

Once you've sent me your note, I'll read it and wait a bit for the other ones to arrive. Then, I'll pick one of them and take the job. If your note isn't answered in more or less three days (could be a minute, could be the whole three days, depending on my schedule), then that means that another commission has already been taken. Don't worry though, I expect to open new slots every now and then, so you'll get your chance. All I ask is for those who are left unanswered not to press on the matter further. It's nothing personal, I just haven't got enough time to take all commissions, so I have to be, you guessed it: selective.

All in all, that's pretty much it. If you have any doubts, feel free to send me a note with them. I'll answer them to the best of my abilities (which isn't saying much, but meh, you'll have to stick with me XD)

Fate out!!!
